Aashish Maskey is a multimedia artist based in Kathmandu. He spent his first eighteen years in Nepal, then eighteen years in the United States, including nine in Hawaii, before returning to Kathmandu. He holds an MA in Photography and an MS in User-Centered Design.

Maskey’s work has been exhibited at galleries and institutions including the Downtown Art Center, Photo Place Gallery, Donkey Mill Art Center, Bishop Place, and Minnesota State University. He received the Ellen Choy Craig Endowed Fund Award in the “Artists of Hawaii Biennial 2024” and a judge’s pick in “The Nature Conservancy Global Contest” in 2018. Most recently, he participated in the Manang Artist Residency, where he spent three weeks collaborating with international artists while exploring themes of human-nature interdependence.

A certified mindfulness meditation teacher, Maskey uses photography as an instrument for self-inquiry, with his contemplative practice deeply informing his artistic process.
